ICLAM2010 Extension of Discounted rates

The response to the early bird registration has been overwhelmingly positive and I would personally like to thank everyone who has taken advantage of this opportunity to register early as well as book and confirm accommodation at the nearby hotels. More exciting news is that all the presenters who were initially approached have confirmed their attendance and to date there have not been any withdrawals. This will ensure a scientific program of the highest quality. Cape Town is on the cusp of what promises to be a glorious summer and as 2010 is the year of the FIFA world cup to be held in South Africa, the infrastructure and services that will make your trip that much more enjoyable, have been polished and honed to levels that will exceed your expectations. From a world economic point of view there appears to be signs of a germinating recovery with small sprouts of positive news coming from many different quarters. In recognition of the effect that the global economic recession has had on many company’s budgets and the possibility that this may have been an obstacle in motivating to your boss your presence at ICLAM 2010 in Cape Town, as well as in celebration of the anticipated economic recovery and the fantastic early bird response from hundreds of delegates, my LOC and I have decided to extend the early bird offering until 30th November 2009, which will hopefully afford many more of you the opportunity to register early. Any delegate who registered after the previous deadline and who paid a higher amount will receive a refund of the difference.

Please make use of this fantastic opportunity; I assure you that Cape Town 2010 will be an unforgettable experience.

Regards

Pieter Coetzer

The Year 2008 has been busy with a very fruitful collaboration with the Underwriters.
In February we had a very distinguished dual presentation on the `Polypill` from Sir Nicholas Wald FRS and Dr David Wald of Barts and the Royal London Hospital.

In May we had a combined half day meeting with the AMU, Association of Medical Underwriters, which included two speakers from overseas, Dr Philip Smalley, from RGA in Canada, who spoke about HIV/ AIDS and Dr Peter Miller, from Swiss Re in Zurich, who spoke about interpreting abnormalities in liver function tests.

In November we had Professor Nick Cheshire deliver a fascinating address entitled `Surgery for Vascular Disease: The Future is Bright, the Future’s Endovascular`.
